The purpose of this article is to guide nurse executives in building learning capacity
within their organizations. The Organizational Learning Road Map provided is grounded
in the American Organization for Nursing Leadership’s Nurse Leader Core Competencies.
Key steps include: developing one’s self as a learning leader, sharing a learning-focused
vision for the organization, establishing a culture of learning, charting a course
toward becoming a learning organization, developing a leadership team to support learning
throughout the organization, measuring progress toward the vision, and sustaining
momentum.
