The American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet organizations are expected to conscientiously
integrate evidence-based practice and nursing research into the fabric of clinical
and operational processes. It is the expectation that Magnet organizations will have
established programs of practice-based nursing research. Nurse leaders need guidance
on establishing and strengthening practice-based centers of nursing research. This
article summarizes key literature to create sustainable centers. The critical roles
of nurse leaders and nurse researchers are reviewed. Additional evidence is provided
related to meaningful design of research studies and evidence-based practice projects.
The article concludes with recommendations for advancing practice-based nursing research
centers.
