Abstract
This narrative describes the evolution of a post-graduate psychiatric nursing fellowship.
With vigor and commitment, the authors questioned national standards and challenged
stubborn institutional traditions and interprofessional ambivalence to create a program
built on nursing ideals, one that delivers outstanding practice outcomes. They learned,
on their journey, the importance of winning hearts to manage the stresses inherent
in change and to strengthen the quality of patient care.
