The DAISY Award Program Impacts Positive Work Environment

Recognizing the important practice of nurses is a vital part of creating a healthful practice/work environment. It is also a key initiative of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) 2010–2012 Strategic Plan. One of the objectives under this initiative is to serve as an industry leader in providing resources to create and promote positive, safe and healthful practice environments. To achieve this objective, AONE joined forces with The DAISY Foundation in 2008 to recognize the work of extraordinary nurses around the country. These are the nurses who, in addition to providing skillful, compassionate care for their patients, also strive to create the best positive, safe and healthful practice environments.
