Risky, intense, and rewarding: The Detroit Medical Center's IT journey

In April 2006, after 9 months of planning, we launched electronic medical records at 2 of our hospitals, Detroit Receiving Hospital and Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan. Our plan is to take the lessons we learned from our experiences and use them as we convert the 6 other hospitals within the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) system throughout the coming year. The launch continues to be one of the most significant and strategic projects we have ever undertaken.
